T-ara’s ‘Lovey Dovey’ is too racy for children, government says

T-ara’s super-popular music video for “Lovey Dovey” has been deemed harmful to teenagers by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, according to a ruling yesterday.
T-ara’s film clip, which features actor Cha Seung-won, will now be banned from airing on television before 10 p.m. Albums featuring the song will be required to feature a sticker that prohibits purchase by those under 19 years of age.
The ministry said it made the decision because the video promoted violence and made references to drugs.
Other artists were also subject to similar rulings on the same day, seeing sale of their work restricted as well. Hip-hop artist Defconn was targeted by the agency as well as the song “Yet Another Day” from the musical “Next to Normal.”
“Lovey Dovey” was released in January of this year and has topped various charts in Korea as well as in Japan, having come in at the third spot on the Oricon singles chart.
